Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to stock up pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage areas orderly. The reach truck is available in several types: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The stand-up is the most basic. The truck forks slide beneath the pallet and move it to the right storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are just one pallet deep.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, that is similar to the stand-up, is frequently used. This version consists of telescopic forks designed to put the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not just slide underneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This particular version is ideal in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Within nearly all warehouses, there are normally more than one kind of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile firms use various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to utilize and can maximize available storage space while increasing production.
